DESDE LA VENTANA

‘Desde La Ventana’ (translation: From the Window) was a self-assigned photography project for my time spent in Havana, Cuba. As a first generation Cuban-American, I had only ever been given small glimpses into Cuba. On the one hand, I had the American media and propaganda and on the other, stories from my grandfather, Alberto Carlos Rosende. His stories either captured the beauty of the tropical island or the political regime from which he escaped. The two most often and vividly recounted were the day he met my grandmother and the day he fled the country, only 5 days after the birth of his son, my father.
